The Good News has the power to change every life, and kids are no exception. In fact, studies show that people are MOST likely to accept Christ when they’re 4–14 years old. This means that how we lead our kids to follow Jesus when they’re young can change the trajectory of their whole life!

We are passionate about working together with parents and guardians to disciple kids. Families at FGU prayerfully work towards and celebrate these important Milestones:

  • Transitioning from elementary to Junior High/Middle School is difficult. We want our children to embrace walking with Jesus and living life all-in for Christ. This retreat will mark a “growing up” milestone in a child’s life. They are moving into a season where they have to begin to own their faith for themselves. We will teach spiritual disciplines, godly friendships, becoming a man or woman of God, and how to follow Jesus during their Junior High and High School years. Luke 2:42-47

  • We want to teach/train our teenagers what it means to grow up spiritually and own their faith for themselves. Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6

  • We encourage our young adults to bring their Bible to life by experiencing the places where Jesus walked with a pilgrimage to Israel. Or to learn to advance the gospel by going on a cross-cultural missions trip to serve with one of our FGU Global churches around the world. Psalms 84:5; Mark 16:15

  • We want our students to BE something before DOING something. Before our students run off to learn a trade, make money, go to secular university and study a major, we want them to know the Word and be grounded in the Scriptures. We want them to study the Bible before they study for a degree. That way, no matter where they go in life, they take a knowledge of the Word with them and they won’t be so easily corrupted by the world. Ephesians 4:14

  • Marriage was God’s idea, so we believe that marriage must be before God and in the family of God. We encourage singles to seek the Lord and choose a godly spouse that honors God’s definition of marriage with the purpose of living boldly for Christ in this world. Our pastors require six sessions of Pre-Marital Counseling in order to perform the ceremony. Genesis 2:22-24

  • Scripture calls us to pass faith on the next generation. Genesis encourages couples to have children and multiply. Genesis 1:28

  • Our kids are a gift from God and we, as parents, must give them back to the Lord and dedicate their lives to God. Psalm 127:3; Luke 2:21-24; Proverbs 22:6

  • The moment that a child crosses the line of faith and chooses to follow Jesus is the biggest milestone in their life. Parents must lead our kids to pray to receive Christ and then parents must celebrate and remember this day. Romans 10:9; 2 Corinthians 6:2; Psalms 77:11-12

  • We must teach our kids the importance of following Jesus in baptism and lead them to get baptized and celebrate this moment. (Suggested age 7+.) Acts 2:38-39; Acts 16:31-33

  • After our children cross the line of faith, parents need to gift them their first Bible and teach them to read it on their own. (Teach/incentivize them to read it daily.) Joshua 1:8; Psalms 119:9; Psalms 119:105

  • After a child is baptized, parents need to lead their child to understand the sacredness of communion and to take this in faith as an act of sincere worship. I Corinthians 11:27

  • Our children need to be taught the foundations of what it means to follow Christ in an anti-Christian world. They need to be taught a biblical worldview. Biblical morality, right from wrong, godly ethics, the value of the Word of God, who Jesus is, and how to follow Him so they are not corrupted by the world. Romans 12:1-2

COMING FALL 2025 – BIBLE CLASS FOR KIDS

What: Discipleship for PreK-5th grade children that delivers a Christian education, mentorship, and practice

  • Open their own Bibles every week and take notes on basic theology

  • Explore truth through strategic (and fun!) activities in class

  • Build friendships with other Christians their age

  • Practice important faith skills with godly teen & adult mentors

  • Bring home guides for personal & family devotion time

  • Establish a biblical worldview that will carry them through the storms of life

When: Meeting during every church service, every week, at all FGU locations

Who: For kids in Preschool through 5th grade. No church experience required. Jump in anytime in the year

Bring: K-5th graders will need their own Bible with the Old & New Testaments. The translation we prefer for kids are NLT or NIV. (We always have extras, if they need one!)

Why? Kids are growing up in a world that is increasingly negative towards Christianity, and they’re surrounded every day by untruths that will hijack their lives. In the confusion and dysfunction of their current world, kids need the truth from Scripture taught in a clear, simple, and loving way.

CHURCH SERVICES

  • Our heart for our youngest kiddos is for them to experience the love and security Jesus offers. We can do this in a tangible way in our nursery environment. Drop off your little one in our nursery during church services, where they’ll play, hear a Bible story, and get prayed over by trained, caring volunteers.

  • When your kiddo is potty trained, can walk, and can communicate, he/she is ready for our preschool Bible Class! Preschoolers get a simplified version of our elementary Bible Classes, where they’ll learn the basics of Christianity at their age level.

  • Our 5 to 11 year-olds are the age group that is most receptive to the Good News. We take this opportunity seriously, and our Bible Classes are structured environments where kids will not only learn essential theology, but they’ll also be loved as unique image-bearers of God, and guided in practicing important elements of Christianity. Our elementary kids are together for the majority of their church experience, but may break into grade-based small groups for discussions and activities.

    • Every week during services, your kids ages PreK-5th grade will be digging into Genesis 1-12, where they’ll learn all of the core Christian doctrine that is foundational to our faith.

We have something for everyone at our church services!

All of our kid’s programming at FGU is run by volunteer Jesus-followers who want to help kids follow Jesus. They come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a variety of gifts to the table!

We have high standards for our volunteer teams:

  • We require regular background checks for all team members

  • New applicants are screened with interviews and/or pastoral references

  • All volunteers receive consistent, individual coaching & training for safety procedures

  • Our policy is that two volunteers serve together at all times

  • An approved adult must be present when children are in our care

  • A First Response Team is available via radio in case of an emergency

HELP US REACH KIDS!

Kids can volunteer, too!

Children as young as 3rd grade can use their gifts as Junior Leaders. We believe that serving is a vital part of discipleship, and we love giving kids that opportunity!

To become a Junior Leader, we ask kids to demonstrate leadership in Bible Class (by participating, attending regularly, following directions, etc.). After one month, we help them get plugged into a volunteer team! We have serving opportunities throughout the church (depending on location). Talk to your location’s Pastor or Kids Team for more information!

If kids are the people group most receptive to the Gospel, we have a great harvest in front of us – and we ALWAYS need more workers in the field! Join our team today!
